First Place:

Nowhere Man” by: Kirstie Davis

The grey mellow undertone
and lingering low melody
harmonically wind
through the senses
of a mind
streaming – nothingness.

The rhythmically sang wavering,
seemingly riddles
forgotten melancholy;
the drifting command
leaving clarity – absent,
in the world of a Nowhere Man.

Nothing beautiful
catching and weaving
Nothing brilliant
shining and new
charming the shady
sediment
settling like stone
in your head.

In melody sang solemnly
time’s like an isle
battered by the waves
and seeming to be
much like mine, in your mind –
obsolete.

I am the Walrus” by: Adrian Laven

We are the circus.
The shaking tightrope walker never falls,
At one end is her room, and at one the curtains close.
If you are not her, you wont hear my calls.
The ticket stub is your proof.
Our photo will see you there.
One clown is witty and vommits on the other’s watch.
You can join them, if you dare.

I am sinking as a face in the crowd,
They are like me, but im not proud.
I am the ring master, laughing loud,
Collect your tears and
join my cloud.

Theres no greater show,
With the rattling reaction of applause.
They speak of me as one to beat,
But i still say forget the laws.
They make you see me as a fool,
With rotten shoes and rancid wake.
Yet i have these tears of joy
Because i am a genuine fake.

I am sinking as a face in the crowd,
They are like me, but im not proud.
I am the ring master, laughing loud,
Collect your tears and
join my cloud.

You can go down to the county fair
But youll never forget the circus
Drop your gfts to come back here
To the centre of the circus.

I am sinking as a face in the crowd,
They are like me, but im not proud.
I am the ring master, laughing loud,
Collect your tears and
join my cloud.

Outside the freaks,
Line up to get in.
Although it’s all over.
They try to grin.
The papers recommend us,
But i swear its their lies.
For the circus next door,
Must be our demise.

I am sinking as a face in the crowd,
They are like me, but im not proud.
I am the ring master, laughing loud,
Collect your tears and
join my cloud.

The Fool on the Hill” by: Linda Santackas

I ponder the words they sang,
feeling sorry for the man on the hill.
Understanding the intolerance
described in their words; of those
listening to the loudest; living
in a fast-paced world, demanding
thirty second enlightenment from
some austere, stern-faced guru/God.

He sits perfectly still, silently
speaking louder, and so unheard.
Deaf minds rush past, looking
for direction even in deception.
In his silence are the answers,
but no one hears, they pass by
as the world goes round.

His giggle may confound those
passers by as the truth connects
he to me, me to he . While I
follow my own path up his hill
I look through the eyes of
this fool, watching the world
spinning round. Sitting
perfectly still, as the sun
goes down, I start to giggle, too.
